TICKETS ON SALE: Gardening for the 4th Dimension & Dreamy POP Portraits

In the 4th dimension anything can happen, what kind of plants would you grow? Luscious roses or vicious Venus flytraps? In this workshop we will learn how to animate short loops and place them in Unity3D! Create the garden of your dreams/nightmares.

Learn how to animate a captivating garden with a life of its own with Paloma Dawkins (Gardenarium, Alea). Paloma will create and provide a project for Unity3D pre-loaded with a few scripts and example scenes. After describing the ins and outs of how everything works, including the possibilities and the limits of the medium, as a group we will draw a few assets create a scene from scratch together.

This is a co-presentation with the Toronto Animated Image Society.

She and 6 lucky participants will each create an animated portrait from their dreams. Using TAIS’ brand new Wacom 22HD Cintiqs, and the versatile animation software TV Paint, the final results will be combined into one trippy morphing exquisite corpse.

Gardening for the 4th Dimension and Dreamy POP Portraits are presented in partnership with the Toronto Animated Image Society. As an artist-run non-profit production centre, TAIS supports animation art making by independent artists, with a focus on skills development. Their membership continues to expand to include contemporary multi-disciplinary artists, media artists, and 3D and VR animators who join the classical, digital hand-drawn, and stop motion animators that have long standing relationships with TAIS. Members work in narrative and experimental styles, installation and web-based forms, and also explore animation as craft.

This workshop was made possible by the Ontario Arts Council.
