Hand Eye Society’s It’s Gonna Be May’s Newsletter

Y’all….after this Hand Eye Society meeting, things are moving forward and we’re so excited to share with you this year’s plans for HES…but not yet! Soon! In the meantime, we’re making a few changes to our workshops for the time being. Just swapping things around, no biggie, but if you want to see what we have to offer, please check out our workshop catalog below! Okay, I’ll share some super secret info…stay tuned for additional workshops in the future! What we’ll be covering, I can’t say it, but know it will be accessible for friends in or around games! So get pre-hype!

Toronto Games Week (TGW) is a new celebration of videogame arts and culture in the city.

The first TGW will be June 1-7th 2023 and is a collective coordination of events organized independently by dozens of organizations, creators, curators, and companies. Expect: 

  • Arcade games around the city!
  • Party by Dirty Rectangles!
  • Showcase by NextGen artists!
  • Panel on new labour models in games!
  • Survival horror game/movie talk and screening!
  • Workshop on refining your game hook!
  • Think tank on Indigenous game creation!
  • Talk on ancient artifacts of Nintendo!

Want advice and mentoring from a visiting curator?
Have you always wanted to find out how games are selected? During TGW there will be folks from festivals like AMaze Berlin, IndieCade, & Now Play This in town. Shoot us an email at info@gameartsinternational.network with some links to your previous games. If there is a suitable match, we will be in touch!

Want to volunteer? Or to host a visiting game creator?

We’re looking for volunteers! If you are interested, please fill in this form. We’re also looking for hosts to billet visiting game creators. It’s a huge support to us if you have room to share with them. You can express your interest and learn more by filling in this short form.
