Meet the New Hand Eye Society Board Members!
June 10th, 2025
We’re thrilled to introduce the newest members of the Hand Eye Society Board of Directors for 2025–2026!
Hand Eye Society is a community-driven organization, and our board plays a vital role in shaping the direction of our programs, events, and overall mission. This year, we’re excited to welcome three brilliant and creative people to our leadership team. These talented individuals bring a wide range of experience in fundraising, digital media, software development, and community engagement, all tied together by a deep love for games and a belief in their cultural power.
Let’s meet them!
Osioreame Ikiebe
Hi! My name is Osioreame Ikiebe, and I’m a software developer with a background in mobile apps and game development. I’ve worked on projects that use technology for education and social impact, and I’m passionate about making digital experiences more accessible and meaningful. I’m excited about the chance to support Hand Eye Society’s mission and bring my background and passion for community engagement to the board. In my free time, I enjoy skateboarding, going to concerts and of course, gaming.
Samantha Summers
Samantha is a fundraiser for Kids Help Phone. Prior to this, she worked in fundraising for a variety of Toronto cultural organizations, including ROM and TIFF. She currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Sankofa Square and has previously served on the Boards of Breakthroughs Film Festival and the Future of Film Showcase. She maintains a research career in the field of critical philanthropy studies, which she teaches at UofT. She holds an MMSt, MI, and HBA from UofT and an MA from Queen’s, and is currently pursuing a Certificate in Nonprofit Management at George Brown.
Miriam Verburg
Miriam Verburg founded Bloom Digital in 2012 to explore the connection between video games and youth mental health. Under her leadership, Bloom has launched three unique and emotionally resonant visual novels. She maintains a strong belief in the power of media to challenge dominant narratives and provide blueprints for better societies. She is a member of the advisory committee for Ontario Creates, where she contributes her expertise to support the growth of the digital media sector in the province.
We’re so lucky to have Samantha, Osioreame, and Miriam joining our board. Their perspectives will help guide Hand Eye Society through another exciting year of workshops, showcases, and artist support.
