A demo showcasing the new multiplayer tools in Unity 6 and how it helps users to quickly create a networked scene, which helps them focus more on the gameplay, and not the repetitive boilerplate code of lobby session management. Users will see how these tools can be applied to convert a 2D platformer scene into a shared multiplayer experience

7:30 PM Flipping Assets to Improve Your Game by Devon Wiersma
In this talk, solo indie developer Devon Wiersma will address strategies to incorporate pre-made assets into your game’s production pipeline. They will cover topics ranging from where to find assets for your game, how to discover quality assets to use, and how to avoid using assets in a way that feels too “same-y”. By the end you’ll have learned how to leverage assets to help you make a stronger game, and you’ll be freed up to focus on developing the parts of your game you enjoy!

This post-mortem talk will delve into the transformative power of structured, facilitated playtesting, an approach that attempts to spark new ideas and elevate game quality. This will lead a post-mortem of The G.R.I.D. — a unique and welcoming behind-the-scenes initiative designed specifically for indie developers, studios, and solo creators to showcase their games and receive targeted, constructive feedback for their game at any stage of development. We’ll cover some of its foundational principles, the practicality of facilitating playtesting sessions, and the lessons learned from this first attempt.

This is not the first time artists have been confronted with industrialisation, and we can look to the past to see what it is that kept people motivated, as well as putting a name to that creative ‘spark’ that everyone feels and why that will be so important in separating the man from the machine.

6:00 PM – Zantar: Video Games as Fine Art by Mitchell Chan
Recently, a number of museum and gallery exhibitions have focused on artists who use game engines and game mechanics as their primary medium for expressing the complexity of the contemporary world. One of these artists is Mitchell F. Chan, whose most recent game “Zantar” has been exhibited at Frieze Seoul, Nguyen Wahed in London and New York, and the recent BINÁLÉ exhibition in Hungary. In this talk, delivered at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Mitchell discusses why games are the most essential art medium of the present moment, and shares a full playthrough of his work “Zantar.”

7:30 PM – Audio Editing for Dummies by Xavier Oshinowo
This workshop teaches students how to edit dialogue for video games in Reaper. This workshop will overview how to use the plugins to edit audio, setting up fx chains, setting up key binds for editing, and rendering presets. The main takeaway from this workshop will be how to set up a project, create custom commands to make the workflow easier, editing necessities, and render.
